Thirteen-year-old Clare Quinn from Renmore, a first-year student at Dominican College, Taylor’s Hill, is pictured presenting a cheque for €3,663.85 to Orla Feeney of Galway Hospice. Clare raised this fantastic amount through the sale of her debut CD ‘Smile’ and donated the total amount to Galway Hospice Foundation.

GTI will host an Open Day on Tuesday 5 March, when the college will welcome potential students, teachers and parents from 9am to 5pm. Coláiste Iognáid ‘The Jes’ debaters Andrew Forde and Robert Fitzgerald-Bellone won the Team Championship in the West of Ireland Debate Final last Wednesday. The event was the culmination of several qualifying debates over the last five months in which schools from around Connacht competed for a spot in the NUI Galway-organised final.

NUI Galway is calling all would-be engineers to participate in a week of events and activities from 25 February to 3 March as part of National Engineers’ Week. As part of the line-up, NUI Galway’s College of Engineering and Informatics and Ryan Institute will host ‘Bringing Dreams to Life’, a free family-event for all ages where visitors will be able to take part in hands-on experiments, workshops and demonstrations.
