Saying goodbye to Seamus

My husband Seamus was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in August 2010. At the time, neither of us realised just how little time he would have left. Initially, he responded extremely well to the chemotherapy and he was able to control any pain quite easily. For the best part of a year, things were improving and Seamus had a fairly good quality of life, considering the fact that the treatment he was receiving was very severe.

    On 25 May 2011, my wife Brid was admitted to the Galway Clinic, where she remained seriously ill for a number of months. Actually Brid went through the dying process, but, thankfully, due to the excellent care of the nurses and doctors there, she was brought back from death’s door, and began to make a slow recovery.
