Gleefully debunking the ‘women aren’t funny’ myth, Eleanor Tiernan has been a familiar face on the stand-up scene for some time now. However, in the last year or so, she has attained a much wider audience, both as star of the hit satirical sketch show ‘Irish Pictorial Weekly’ and, more recently, on YouTube confusing Daithí Ó Sé live on RTÉ’s ‘Today’ show.

    Galway-based independent record label Wingnut Records is bringing Cork’s Private Underground Residence to Galway this Friday, 15 March. The trio of Paul McNamara, Kevin Blake and John Machale formed Private Underground Residence in Cork in 2007 and do a neat line in hard-to-categorise, noisy, sludgy and sometimes thoughtful and atmospheric post-hardcore.
