Drink, feck, girls, comedy
This year’s Tedfest celebrations get into full swing tonight (Wednesday 22 February) at the Róisín Dubh, when stars of Father Ted come together for a stand-up comedy spectacular.
Fan favourites Patrick McDonnell, who played Daniel O’Donnell-look-alike crooning manboy Eoin McLove, Michael Redmond who played the blank slate of emotion, Father Stone and Joe Rooney who played rebellious whistle thief Fr Damo will all be performing. All three are seasoned comedians who have been performing the Irish and UK circuits for years.
Patrick McDonnell is a recognisable face from the likes of Naked Camera and is excellent on the mic. Michael Redmond is a deadpan master who delivers cleverly constructed one-liners with a surreal twist. He is one Irish comedy’s greats and is well worth the price of admission. Anyone who missed Joe Rooney during the recent Kings of Irish Comedy tour should make up for it by getting along to the gig because, like the rest of the bill, he is among Ireland’s great comics.
The show starts at 9pm and tickets cost €15 (€12.50 members).
