Galway targeting Leeside win
Perched precariously on two points after two games, Galway could do with picking up a win against Cork at Páirc Uí Chaoimh at 12.45pm on Sunday if they retain any ambitions of progressing into the knock-out stages of the league.
A narrow defeat to Tipperary means Galway’s convincing win over Dublin is their sole victory and with Waterford and Kilkenny ties fast approaching, Anthony Cunningham’s charges would like to take the win.
But Jimmy Barry Murphy’s unbeaten Leesiders will pose a real challenge to Galway, especially with home field advantage to call upon.
An appealing double header takes place in Páirc Uí Chaoimh, with the hurling match followed at 2.30pm by the always lively Cork-Kerry tussle in the football.
Cunningham and his management will have to plan without the injured Joe Canning once again, while Andy Smith and Kevin Hynes are close to comebacks after sitting out the last two matches because of injuries.
