091 Labs will be throwing its doors open to the public for their first open day of 2012 on Saturday, 24 March, from 11am until 5pm. People of all ages are welcome to attend.

At the open day, 091 Labs will show off the labs and projects that members are involved in and currently building, including a 3D printer, MAME arcade cabinet and a milling machine or sewing machine.

There will also be a hackathon from 6pm until 10pm for those who want to come build, make or program something as part of a group. Electronics, crafting, programming, whatever!

On Tuesday, 27 March the labs will host a free public talk at 7pm on Literacy software, suitable for dyslexia and non-native English speakers. This talk has been organised in response to a large number of enquiries regarding dyslexia.

On Saturday, 31 March 091 Labs will host an LAN gaming night in aid of Habitat for Humanity, taking place at 4pm, with free pizza.

091 Labs is the Makerspace for Galway city. Makerspaces are a physical place where people all ages can help each other develop, learn and teach skills and crafts, work on personal or group projects and share common interests, often in computers, technology, science, light engineering and crafting.
