Film Review - The Artist
‘Highly recommended!’
A silent film in 2012? Really? I’ll admit I was sceptical about The Artist, but within minutes the film worked its magic.
“Charm” is an overused word, but this film has a charm that’s hard to resist. It’s a simple tale, cleverly told, about the fall of one career (Jean Dujardin as silent idol George Valentin) and the rise of another (Berenice Bejo as the up-and-coming actress Peppy Miller).
Dujardin has been rightly getting plaudits (and an Oscar), but I was won over by the exuberance of Bejo as the aptly-named Peppy, and the scene-stealing dog, Uggie. Highly recommended!
