‘Don’t be put off by the stereotypical trailer!'

21 Jump Street manages to put a (mostly) fresh spin onto the well-worn format of the buddy cop movie.

What could have been a stale spin-off is neatly turned on its head by a well written and knowing screenplay.

Enjoyable because the film refuses to take itself too seriously, the contrasts that are presented are effectively teased rather than bulldozed for comic effect.

Don’t be put off by the stereotypical trailer! Unlike a lot of films, it doesn't contain all the jokes in the film, and there are, thankfully, a few good surprises left for the film itself.
