Late Dublin flurry seals replay
After extra time
Thirteen-man Dublin landed a last gasp 65 in extra-time to clinch a relegation play-off replay against Galway in Tullamore on Sunday.
The side will meet again in Portlaosie on Saturday (4pm) for the replay, but Galway will have to wonder how they let a two-point advanatge slip against the numerically disadvantaged Dubs.
Joe Canning had earlier staged an injury-time comeback to force extra-time, but Anthony Cunningham's side improved greatly from theri 25-point defeat to Kilkenny two weeks earlier.
Anthony Daly's side held a 0-9 to 0-7 lead at half-time with Niall Burke slotting the frees, despite the return of Canning to the side after a shoulder injury. But after the Portumna man was moved out to the half-forward line in the second-half he turned on the style.
Conor McCormack bagged a goal for Dublin four minutes into the second-half, but Canning landed htree potns from play to pull Galway back level, but after Ross O'Carroll goaled 13 minutes form time Galway needed the Canning-led revival.
Straight red-cards for Ryan O'Dwyer and Alan McCrabbe — they now miss the replay — a brace from Canning edged Galway ahead in extra-time, only for Danny Sutcliffe and Niall McMorrow to seal the replay with late scores.
