Meehan and Armstrong make combacks
Galway manager Alan Mulholland was on hand to watch Michael Meehan's first outing since last summer after his recovery from an ankle injury and he left a happy man.
Meehan played just 20 minutes for Caltra in their victory over Williamstown, but he still found time to kick three points as Mulholland departed satisfied.
“It was great to see Michael come through the game, but he is still walking his way through the comeback,” said a delighted Mulholland.
“Obviously after his first game back he was always going to be a little stiff, but thankfully he has had no reaction to playing. He will put the feet up for a couple of days and hopefully he will be in a position to line out for Caltra again next weekend.”
And the good news kept rolling for Mulholland as another star attacker Sean Armstrong also made a positive return from a knee injury with a six-point haul against Milltown after his introduction for the second-half.
But despite the positive news, Mulholland wants to tread carefully with the duo.
“Look this is not the answer for us, if they are fit it gives us more options, but it is not as if they are automatically going to be centre-forward and full-forward for us against Roscommon.
“But it is good news and hopefully over the next couple of weeks the lads can pick up some more game time.”
