The sixth annual Interfaith Peace Conference will take place in Galway at the end of the month.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association will host the event at the Clayton Hotel on Sunday 29 April, with the topic of this year’s conference being Purpose of Religion’.

The conference will start at 5pm and finish by 7pm and will be addressed by Mayor Hildegarde Naughton, along with religious leaders from major faiths including Christanity, Judaism and Islam.

“The main purpose in organizing our annual Interfaith Peace Conferences is to promote peace and mutual harmony amongst people from all religions and of no religion. People from all different backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities etc. are invited to share common values and to develop understanding in order to form basis of tolerance and respect for each other in the society where we all live together irrespective of one's beliefs,” said Imran Ahmed, Imam of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association in Ireland.

“We find increasingly these days that people are turning away from God and the importance of religion is fading in the society so that is why we have selected this topic ‘Purpose of Religion’ and have requested religious leaders to enlighten us and to make it useful for us to use in our daily lives.”
