S'up Galway
Jedward and American Pie actress Tara Reid brought a taste of Hollywood to Galway last week when they popped in to Cooke's Restaurant on Abbeygate Street for dinner.
Eurovision hopefuls Jedward took some time out of their busy schedule on Friday to take Hollywood actress Tara Reid to dinner.
Cooke’s restaurant on Upper Abbeygate Street welcomed the famous duo, who told waitress Orla Marren they chose Cooke’s because “there were candles in the window”.
Ms Reid, who was in Ireland for the premiere of American Pie: The Reunion, in Dublin’s Savoy Cinema, was on a tour of the West coast with Jedward, during which they visited the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher, as well as Galway. She posted a picture of herself and John Grimes having dinner at Cooke’s on her Twitter account, along with the message, “Having a great dinner”.
Ms Marren said that Ms Reid was “nice and very polite”, but that she had not immediately recognised her until a colleague identified her as the American Pie star. She said that Jedward were not “as excitable” as they appear on television, but that they were “very friendly” and “full of hugs”. “They wanted to know all about us,” said Ms Marren.
The trio sat upstairs in an effort to remain incognito, although the twins still stood out somewhat, dressed in matching blue jackets and red boots. In keeping with their admiration of the candles in Cooke’s window, they also lit every candle in the upstairs area of the restaurant, saying, “Candles are so cool”.
The twins, who are known for not drinking or smoking, drank coke for the night along with their meal of fajitas and mussels.
