TV3 closes Galway studio

National television station TV3 has announced it is to close its Galway office from next month.

 

As part of a range of changes to its news operation, the TV3 Galway Bureau will be close from the end of February, which “which will allow for camera and reporting crews to be dispatched from Dublin for coverage of stories on the western seaboard”.

 

A statement from the commercial broadcaster said that the reorganisation of its news and sports division comes on foot of a major investment at its new High Definition studio complex at its Ballymount headquarters in Dublin.

 

It continued to add that TV3 is also looking to enhance its award-winning ‘News at 5.30’ by unveiling a new format, which will be broadcast live from a new set and will place an emphasis on breaking stories, live content and an increased story count.
